Last Friday afternoon, took place on November 15th 2024 a conference in preparation of the 23rd edition of the World Philosophical day. Once more, Saint Benedict College was distinguished amongst others as the ideal conference room for this said conference.
Important members of our school administration such as the Rev. Father Principal, The Dean of Studies of both the Anglo-Saxon and francophone sections without leaving out the Heads of our institution. We were honoured to receive the VIPs coordinators of the conference; more precisely The Head of Division, The National Inspector of Philosophy and The Regional Inspector. The conference was said to be a success due to their brave coordination.
All students of USA, LSA, Première A and Tle A were invited to partake in this convivial assembly. It was an interesting and enriching conference because an opportunity was given to each philosopher also called « philosophie et bien être humain ». After all a dozens of students did not miss the occasion after the talk of the Head of Division, The National and Regional Inspectors to express their thoughts, theories and troubles on philosophical aspects for more peculiar clarifications.
The HO Division in particular was amazed by the eloquence, wise thinking and brilliant intelligence of these students. Two of them such as Fomo Akaba of Tle A4 who distinguished themselves amongst others as the best philosophers that day, were awarded by the Head of Division who certified to them a validity of 17 .00 average in their official exam « Baccalaureate » in philosophy. For the 2024-2025 session for their brilliant performance during the conference.
A lot could be learnt from the said conference. As an instrument and illumination of human ideas, Philosophy also says « The will of truth is the will of power ». Furthermore, it could be learnt that « We humans should not only hear satisfaction from the consumption of material needs but also through spiritual needs ». Philosophy therefore invites us to move from darkness to lightening, and from underdevelopment to development. This can be true if only we follow the triangle of Knowledge –Wellbeing and Virtue.
Conclusively, we are all invited to be the Socrates of tomorrow who will innovate the world.
